CREATIVE CAIRNGORMS

Creative Cairngorms is the arts and crafts association for the Cairngorms National Park.

            We are a not-for-profit organisation, run by and for, artists, makers and galleries within the National Park. The association aims to raise public awareness of the huge variety of creative talent and industry in the area by encouraging cultural activities and promoting links within and between communities across the Cairngorms National Park. The scenic beauty, with its ever changing light and unique colours, is an inspiration to the many local artists and craft makers who produce a diverse range of work.

Created in, and often influenced by the Highland environment, output includes painting, drawing, illustration, printmaking, pottery, sculpture, photography, stained glass, wood craft, instrument making, handmade cards, knitwear and 3D hangings.Creative Cairngorms helps members to develop their practice through events and exhibitions. It also aims to provide quality assurance in the marketing and branding of creative products. Our overall purpose is to generate greater interest, and to widen access to arts and crafts in the Highlands and we hope that visitors to the area will have an opportunity to view the work of members: at a Creative Cairngorms exhibition, gallery or studio.

A directory of members, showcasing the variety of quality work produced by members is available by emailing liz@purpleheatherart.co.uk  The brochure includes an “art & crafts trail” map and contact details to make it easy for you to locate, visit and view the work of the featured artists and businesses. If you are interested in the work of a particular artist or would like to purchase or commission an individual piece, please contact the person or gallery direct.We would be delighted to hear from anyone interested in joining us. Membership is open to groups, organisations, businesses and professional or semi-professional individuals in the creative industries, who predominately live or work within the Cairngorms National Park.
