Watersports in Aviemore and the Cairngorms
The Aviemore and Cairngorms area boast two watersports centres, Loch Insh and Loch Morlich. Each Loch has its own individual character and features but both are unsurpassed by the stunning beauty of their natural surroundings.
The majestic river Spey flows through Loch Insh as it makes its way on its 80-mile trip to the sea. On a smaller scale the Alt Mor burn tumbles down from Cairngorm Mountain as it flows into Loch Morlich. To view wildlife from the water is a special experience, whether from the intimacy of an open canoe or the comfort of a specialist craft. Loch Insh and Loch Morlich are ideal places to see many types of wildlife in its natural environment.
Sailing, windsurfing, canoeing, river trips and rowing are all on offer at our two Watersports Centres with a range of craft to get everyone afloat. For those who don't want to get afloat there are picnic areas to relax in and sheltered bays to go for a paddle - or even build a sandcastle.
