Rothiemurchus offers wonderful walks for all ages and abilities - from short forest or loch-side strolls to more demanding hill walking. One of the few places you can walk at a low level, under the shelter of the ancient trees and enjoy views of the mountains. You will always be surrounded by spectacular scenery - natural woodland, lochs and streams and a wealth of different plants and you may be lucky enough to see animals such as Red Squirrel, Red Deer, Pine Marten, rare birds including Scottish Crossbill, Crested Tit and Capercaillie.
Ranger-accompanied walks
Led by a knowledgeable and entertaining Countryside Ranger they make the estate come alive and can open your eyes to its hidden secrets. The walks are one of our most popular activities, tailored to the individual participant's capabilities and seasonally themed. Booking essential.
Self-guided walks
To explore Rothiemurchus on the network of waymarked walks, collect a Rothiemurchus Explorer Map from the Rothiemurchus Centre where their knowledgeable staff can provide further advice or information.
